The Leaking Tap Analogy: Understanding Correction vs. Corrective Action

The Leaking Tap !
Annoyed by that leaking tap in the Kitchen ? An analogy I often use in my trainings.🚰 The first step is to try and tighten it to see if it resolves – sometimes it does but only to start leaking again ! 😤 And then what does one do? 🤔 Call the plumber, he replaces the tap and the matter stands resolved! 🛠️ Ever thought what it teaches us? 🤔 – the difference between ‘Correction’ and ‘Corrective Action’ ! ‘Correction’ is the immediate action of tightening the tap to plug the leak and ‘Corrective Action’ is the act of replacing the tap with a new one! 💡 We all know which one lasts longer – apply this to our processes as well! 🔄 If something fails by all means take remedial measures immediately but look at the deeper cause and fix it permanently else the problem will occur again, and again and again! ⚠️
